Some people think that students benefit from going to private secondary schools. Others, however, feel that private secondary schools can have a negative effect on society as a whole. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

The Essay

Whether private secondary schools are beneficial or have a harmful impact on society, is a moot point. According to me, these schools are not beneficial for a society.

To commence with, the primary aim of secondary private schools is to earn money. They are either to expensive or low priced to get students from different sections of society. The high end schools are a burden as they demand high donations from students, albeit providing good facilities.

Additionally, the cheaper private secondary schools generally do not meet the standards of good education, leaving students incapable of competing in the world. Students are likely to have an inferiority complex and not explore their full potential.

However, the government secondary schools follow rules as laid down by the government which ensures that students have a holistic growth. They adhere to set standards as needed for a society and hence passing out students are well equipped to deal with their higher education and the world at large. Furthermore, the fee structure is reasonable that can be afforded by every strata of society. Thus the rich and poor students get similar amenities and opportunities for learning.

To conclude, I believe that private secondary schools are more disadvantageous for a society, since they are either a load on society or do not focus the overall growth of school goers.
