The Essay

Technology has developed enormously and online shopping is one aspect which has flourished over the years and hence it is believed that all shops across towns and cities would shut down.
However, I disagree with this opinion and feel that this will not result in closing of shops.

To begin with, traditional shops provide people with the facility to buy something they like, at that very moment and get delivery right away. This is also helpful if a product is required immediately. For example, if a person needs to buy milk urgently, then people would generally go over to a close by shop to get the same. As opposed to this, if a person orders it, it would take some hours to acquire the products.

Furthermore, people sometimes use their leisure time to go to shops in complexes or shopping areas where they have a variety of products to choose from. Besides, free time can be utilised by shoppers not only to shop but also to have street food and socialise with community members, which is missing in online portals.

On the contrary, online shopping will be beneficial for the environment as it would reduce the harmful gases released by the vehicles which are emitted on their way to shops. Moreover, it is easier for the customer to get a product delivered at their doorstep, which explains the popularity of Amazon or other m-commerce websites.

To conclude, according to me, despite the surge in online shopping, shops in towns and cities would continue to exit, since people tend to spend their past time in these areas as well as pick up their merchandise without time lag.
