Some people believe that it is better to live and work in a vertical city with multiple tall buildings, as compared to a horizontal city with fewer tall buildings.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

People have varying opinions on whether it is more advantageous to reside and work in cities with numerous tall vertical structures and buildings or a horizontal one with lesser of such constructions.

Firstly, horizontal cities would extend more open space and a visible skyline vis-a-vis vertical ones. It is well known that open space gives one a feeling of expansion and freedom. People can enjoy the beauty of a starry night sky as well as sunrise or sunset after they come back from their workplace. This is seldom possible in areas with high rise buildings. Secondly, dwelling areas with scant tall structures have lesser population since the multi-storeyed buildings house a large number of workers and executives in vertical cities. This population explosion, absent in horizontal towns, causes other problems like traffic, noise, scarcity of resources and so on, leading to a competitive environment with high-stress levels that is unhealthy.

On the other hand, vertical cities with buildings almost reaching up to the sky, provide many other services such as a common sports ground, swimming pool, recreation center and many more to the residents which they can enjoy after a hard day’s work. With these benefits, people rejuvenate themselves. Besides, such residential areas have round the clock security personnel and power back up that makes life secure and comfortable. Hence, many citizens opt to live and work in such cities.

To conclude, in this modern age, though vertical cities have a plethora of merits, according to me, horizontal cities with fewer high buildings offer a peaceful and salubrious environment for people to reside and do their jobs and hence superior to the former.
