The Essay Topic: Children should never be educated at home by their parents. Discuss the extent to which you are or disagree with this statement by giving examples from your own experience.
The Essay: It is evident that parental education plays a pivotal role in the overall growth of children. Some people believe that children should not be given education at home by their father or mother. According to me, homeschooling is certainly associated with pitfalls, although it provides some benefits to children as they are close to their parents
Firstly, children can never acquire as much education as is possible at schools when educated at home by their parents because at school there are qualified experts in every subject following standard accepted pedagogy. Children not only obtain knowledge in school in various fields but they also have complete facilities such as laboratories, hands on experience, musical instruments, guest lectures and inter school competitions amongst others.
Secondly, schools inculcate a amiable nature and resilient attitude within the child by interaction with others. They become more socialized, self-confident and learn to deal with a myriad challenging situations which leads to the overall development of a child. For instance, my niece who goes to school is more smart and confident vis-a-vis my neighbor’s child who is educated by them at home.
Nonetheless, it is also true that the first school for any child is their home itself. Crucial moral values, manners and basics of different subjects can be learnt under parental guidance at home as children feel more comfortable and are always with their parents in early years. Moreover, parents are directly aware of their children’s strengths and weaknesses. Hence, children can cope up with different problems and learn being with their parents.
To conclude, I opine that children should be educated at schools since it provides a platform to experience and shine in different areas of life which homeschooling cannot render. Nevertheless, education at home helps children to study in comfort with their parents to some extent.
