The Essay:

It is seen that the younger adults far outnumber the elderly population in few countries presently. No doubt this presents merits as well as demerits for a society and nations.

To commence with, the old people are a store house of knowledge, excellence and experience, which is of immense importance to others. The young workers and family members can draw from their years of toil, patience and wisdom to avoid reinventing the wheel. This would save resources and time for an organisation and an individual.

By contrast, youthful adults possess elan and ideas and can undertake challenging operations more successfully, unlike most adults. The young generation are a nation’s builders, innovators and creators of wealth. In the recent past several young entrepreneurs have emerged in India, creating employment and business opportunities, thereby contributing to national economy. Few such examples are 27 year old Ritesh Agarwal of OYO hotels, 16 year old Tilak Mehta of Papers and Parcels in Mumbai and 23 year old Srilakshmi Suresh of eDesign.

Furthermore, countries with more young people will have their economies soaring due to their immense potential of building a progressive country. Thus India with the highest percentage of youth in the world, is attracting a host of multinational organisations that are setting up offices here, to tap the large pool of skilled young manpower. This is beneficial not only for India but also for the world, who obtain a capable young workforce.

To conclude, I believe it is more advantageous than disadvantageous, when the population of young adults is higher than that of senior citizens, as in the case of some countries currently. The former do more for their society, country and the world vis-a-vis the older lot, notwithstanding their greater experience.
