The Answer:
The pie charts illustrate the industrial, agricultural and domestic use of water in Africa, Central Asia, South East Asia, Europe, South America and North America. Industrial use of water is greater in North America and Europe with a high consumption of water for agriculture, in the remaining four areas.
It can be seen that, 53% (more than 10 times than in Central Asia) and 48% water is used in industries in Europe and North America respectively. While industrial use of water is less in South East Asia (12%), South America (10%) and Africa (7%). In addition, the highest use of water in agriculture is in Central Asia (88%), followed by Africa (84%) and South East Asia (81%), whereas the lowest is in Europe(32%). Moreover, the highest use of domestic water is in South America (19%)and the lowest in Central and South East Asia (7%).
To sum up, industrial utilisation of water is maximum in developed areas, vis-a-vis a much larger section of water consumed for irrigation in developing parts of the world. Furthermore, domestic use of water is comparatively low all over the world.
