In recent years, increase in the number of accidents on road is a clear evidence of poor driving skills by drivers of different age levels.Some people believe that the best method to bring down the ratio in traffic accidents is to lower the legal permissible age of driving by elder people and elevating the age limit for younger ones. I opine that this method would not be fruitful and other strategies must be adopted.
Firstly,imposing heavy fines on drivers who exceed the permitted alcohol consumption level would reduce accidents . According to recent data, a great proportion of traffic accidents are due to use of alcohol before driving. Utilizing technology and installing devices that detect drunken drivers and auto lock ignition can be used to keep people with a track record of drunken drivers off the roads.
Secondly,people should be better educated and guided to be careful behind the wheel.People should learn to obey road rules and respect other drivers instead of causing tension or submitting to road rage.In addition,heavy fines should also be levied for exceeding speed limits.
Nonetheless, lowering the age limit for drivers can be an additional aproach.For example,the elderly person may have vision problem or other health problems and hence should be excluded from driving. Besides,young people under 18 years old are considered immature to drive. However, other measures are essential to reduce traffic accidents effectively.
In conclusion, according to me, I believe that stronger measures should be implemented for the prevention of traffic accidents by the means of imposing fines and educating drivers towards safe driving. Nevertheless, setting an age limit could be helpful but cannot be considered as the optimal and only solution to this problem.

In recent years, traffic accidents are on the rise. One of the reasons for rise in traffic accidents has been related to age of the driver. According to me, this is true and the authorities must increase age of young drivers as well as should reduce the age limit of elder ones for obtaining driver’s permit.
Firstly, young drivers in their teen age are very impatient. They generally do not follow the speed limits in traffic areas leading to unnecessary jams and accidents. They are always in a rush to reach their desired destination. Besides, it has been seen that they often do not drive in their own lanes which results in chaos and accidents.
Secondly, elderly people are very scared while they are driving. They are used to drive in an old fashioned manner when speed limits were low as the roads were not so good. However, with the new highways and better road infrastructure, speed limits have increased and in this fast moving traffic their response is generally very slow leading to accidents.
On the other hand, few contend that age is just a number. We have many examples where young drivers are much more sensible in comparison to adults. They understand the traffic rules better and follow the same to avoid any accidents. Also, senior citizens are much more experienced. They are very patient and adhere to their lanes during traffic hours to avoid unnecessary snarls.
In conclusion, it is a fact that drivers in young age and elder ones are more prone to cause road accidents during traffic hours. I believe, we can certainly reduce traffic accidents by raising the permissible age limit of young drivers and lowering the same for the older people.
