Writing Task 2, Essay
Some people say that educational success depends most of the time on having a good teacher. Others say that the attitude of student also matters.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
The Essay:
Whether it is largely the tutelage under good teachers or the learners’ attitude as well, that leads to accomplishments in education has been a moot point.
Proponents of the view that students’ outlook matters too, contend that even the best of educators cannot do much for a student who does not wish to learn. As the proverb goes, one can take a horse to the water but cannot make it drink. Therefore, they argue that experienced and successful teachers fail in bringing out the best in pupils, when they are not willing to exert or open to knowledge.
On the contrary, seasoned teachers know the pulse of pupils and mould their lessons and approach to suit their learners. It is a fact that each student is different and the same pedagogy will not work across all in a class. While few grasp concepts quickly, others need time and detailed explanation with examples. Here lies the skill of teachers in moulding the presentation of the subject accordingly, for the benefit of not only the slow but also fast learners.
Furthermore, without the right guru in academics, there is no victory even for brilliant students. The perfect teacher, besides inspiring those with negative thinking, gently pushes learners forward by motivating them to experience the joy of toiling and scaling new heights. For instance, the class 10 topper in Haryana, Rishita who scored a perfect 100% this year, said that it would not have been possible without her teachers.
To conclude, according to me, accolades obtained in the field of education is majorly owing to having been taught by good teachers, although some believe that the perspective of students is of importance too.
