The Essay Topic: Nowadays the way many people interact with each other has changed because of technology.
In what ways has technology affected the types of relationships people make? Has this become a positive or negative development?
The Essay: In the present days, there is a paradigm shift in ways individuals correspond with each other owing to a massive progress in technology and its varied usage. According to me, certainly, this alteration of methods of connecting with others has a significant impact on liaisons amongst people. I believe that this is a favourable progress albeit a few fallouts because of overindulgence.
Firstly, modern technology has facilitated people to have conversations with their dear ones who are living far off. Laptops and smart phones are well equipped with applications like Skype calling or Face time, which connects individuals in just a few seconds. For example, internet calling feature in my mother’s phone, helps her to interact regularly with my brother, who lives in France. Such a communication was clearly missing previously and people often missed their near and dear ones. This is a giant leap forward in the arena of relationships.
Secondly, modern technology has strengthened the formal relations between professionals as well. Setting up official meetings has really become an easy task these days, leading to the success of many enterprises. Many times, it plays a vital role in achieving time-sensitive goals like the completion of projects or by replying to important business messages, with the best possible solution.
However, the use of the internet has reduced the number of personal visits to loved ones. People have become too lazy to have real conversations in person. On the other hand, it has also increased the level of stress and anxiety amongst working individuals due to increasing performance pressure of being online round the clock resulting in strain relations. Moreover, they are unable to share their load which can only happen with face to face or verbal communication
To conclude, I opine that modern day technology has been a boon to relations on a personal as well as professional front by connecting people in a more deft way. Nevertheless, depending too much on this mode leads to depletion of warmth in personal relationships and many a times work-life imbalance.
