The Essay:
The need for matrimony is not felt by women in several nations nowadays. Few hold that this is owing to the fact that they are capable of earning and consequently do not desire the economic safety wedded life may provide. I completely disagree with this statement since the attitude towards marriage has shifted enormously, irrespective of the economics associated with it.
First, more and more women now believe that marriage is all about understanding, respect and trust, rather than just gaining financial security. Thus women tend to wed only if a man respects them and is trustworthy. Additionally, marriage being a major decision, womenfolk want to make sure the man is respectful and not just wealthy.
Second, society is more open at present and many women love their freedom and dislike following age old traditions of compulsory marrying. They feel it equivalent to being burdened with commitment. Thus, we can see that many women today live alone, albeit socialising with people of their choice. According to the Heart to Heart Institute Mumbai, fear of loosing freedom is a major cause for women not marrying.
On the contrary, few people believe the reason of women opting to remain unmarried is their income. They argue that women generally marry to get a financial cover, which is traditionally obtained in married life. Earnings they say makes marriage unattractive to women.
To conclude, I opine that the female gender in many nationalities avoid tying the knot, for maintaining their freedom, apart from failure in finding an ideal husband. Although some contend this is due to more women earning and thus not seeking the economic security provided by a marriage.
