The Essay Question: Writing Task 2 , January 2020
Some people argue that it is best to accept a bad situation, such as an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money. Others believe that it is better to try and improve such situations.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
The Essay:
There is a dichotomy in views regarding the best option of dealing with unpleasant state of affairs, with some contending that acceptance of it would be ideal and yet others believing that attempting to better the situation is superior. Certainly, the outcome of both paths are different.
To commence with, when people reconcile with the existing bad situation, their life will most likely remain the same or even get worse with time. Financial , physical or any other area of life will not change, when one does not strive. Besides, the personal depressing conditions also affects the country as a whole and a nation suffers.
On the contrary, with conscious and diligent efforts, the prevailing unhappy circumstances can be overcome to bring in positive developments, like a a breath of fresh air. For instance, it is often seen that most great people like Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, rose from the ranks of the common man to hold the position of the highest office, by dint of his diligent attempts. Moreover, by helping oneself, one can help others and the country too.
Additionally, there is no reason why one should not strive to enrich oneself. It is only the people with a negative approach who propound that acceptance of unfavourable times, such as an unsatisfactory job or economic conditions is the best. The myriad examples of famous billionaires of the world, be it Bill Gates, Warren Buffet or Mark Zuckerbug of Facebook, have all proven that positive endeavours to be better, is more fruitful vis-a-vis just sitting back and coming to terms with status quo.
To conclude, there are divergent opinions on how to deal with a bad situation. According to me, one should gird up their lions and make every effort to rise higher in life, which would benefit their nation as well.
