The Essay Question: Writing Task 2 (an essay)

Many people find it difficult to give presentation or speech in public, therefore it is good idea to teach these skills to children at school.

How important it is to speak well in public ?

Do you agree or disagree with the thought of training children on schools ?

The Essay:

It is a fine proposition to educate young ones at school on how to present or talk in front of an audience, since a great number of people find it challenging to do so. According to me, it is critical to speak impressively in large groups, which is certainly a skill and hence children should be taught the same in schools.

It is significant to speak impressively facing crowds since it gives one confidence and catapults them to limelight. People are then viewed differently and gain importance. Additionally, the most talented and successful people have to address masses at some time to present their views, be they scientists, scholars, doctors, engineers, teachers and so on. For instance, Steve Jobs the founder of Apple phones, often addressed the public to deliver key note speeches, and he was a crowd puller with his magnetic speeches.

First, imparting school children public speaking lessons, will prepare them for their life ahead. Whether in school, college, office or business, people are required to convince others of their opinion, findings and achievements at different stages for progress. For example, Dr. Kalam, the 11th President of India instrumental in launching India’s first rocket, had to speak publically to impress upon his team and seniors the efficacy of their mission. Second, children who speak well in front of crowds are more confident and successful vis-a-vis those who cannot. A shy person who does not talk to a large group impactfully, will generally feel low and wanting. This in turn will affect their academic and professional growth.

In conclusion, I believe that addressing a gathering is tough for many, although this ability is much needed for everyone to dazzle others with their knowledge or accomplishments and so should be a prime skill imparted in educational institutions to pupils.
