The Essay: There are a set of people who spend their entire career in the same company, and others who opine that switching companies throughout working life is preferable.
People who work for the same firm throughout their professional life, believe that they have better financial stability. Long term employees in most companies, accrue a myriad benefits, such as gratuity, bonuses and better pension plans, amongst others. For example, in Germany an employee can get upto one year paid leave, if they have worked in the organization for a period of three years.
On the contrary, employees who work in different companies, have the advantage of learning new skill sets, as all enterprises work differently. They are exposed to more working styles and cultures, thus they learn to acclimatize to new situations and are enriched in experience.
Additionally, they are able to earn higher with each change of job, since they take advantage of the trend of thirty percent hike in salary, when changing jobs. This helps them gain financial stability at a young age instead of waiting untill the ripe old retirement age. For example, Mr.Sunder Pichai, the current yet not so old, Chief Operating Officer at the corporate behemoth Google, worked previously in around three to four companies.
To conclude, it is a fact that few people spend all their working years in a single organisation, unlike some who think it is is advantageous to do multiple jobs. In my opinion, a change of job is crucial because it helps to grow professionally and acquire better skills. At the same time, it also helps people economically,since they are able to earn more in lesser time.
