The Essay:

Few are of the opinion that the female gender must be permitted as well, to work in the army, navy and air forces like men. I agree with this view since women are instrinsically good in domains that can be utilised effectively in the forces, albeit not for direct combat.

First, history proves that women in various parts of the world, have been great warriors and commanders who led their army to victory. For example, the queen Lakshmibai and Ahilyabai Holkar in India during the eighteenth and nineteenth century, bravely protected their kingdom from several warring kings. Besides, the few young women presently working in forces have proved their mettle.

Second, women must be given the responsibility of nurturing and care giving roles in the forces. They are stronger emotionally, more patient and hence their potential must be harnessed in appropriate fields. The healthcare, teaching and information technology professions for instance, are critical areas in the armed forces, where their contribution could be significant.

Nevertheless, some people may contend that most women are weaker vis-a-vis men in physical strength and since the armed forces have often to deal with extremely tough terrains and weather conditions for long periods, they ought to be kept away from such challenging environments. This could be true in case of combat roles.

To conclude, I believe that lady cadets ought to be allowed in the navy, air and armed forces, since our history proves they could fight at par with men. Moreover, they make remarkable healthcare givers which is an essential for the forces.
