While a section of the masses believe that children are rendered immense amount of free time which should be utilised to execute school tasks, in my perspective, this is untrue. Whereas, their spare time ought to be spent on recreational activities as well as pursuing hobbies.
To commence with, idle time of students should be employed in various relaxation and amusement activities. This will not only give a fillip to their confidence but also inculcate cohesive skills when they play in groups. Such children are often more balanced, social and healthy. Besides, they can devote some time in charitable activities that will make them sensitive towards society and in tune with reality that is essential in adulthood.
In addition, preferred pastimes can be converted into a full time occupation later in life. Children should nourish their talents and engage in extra curricular activities like playing games, dancing, singing, playing music and so on. For example, though my friend was average in academics, he continued his pursuit of playing football in his leisure time, that eventually moulded him into a top soccer player in Europe.
However, proponents of the opposite view claim that children must expend free time to complete additional school assignments and projects to strengthen their academic foundation. They argue that school since games and arts are already included, the extra time should be sensiblely spent on school tasks, any pending work or tough subjects.
In conclusion, according to me, students do have a lot of free time and it is imperative that they must pursue their interests during this period, though some opine that it is vital for students to employ such time for school work.
