The Essay:
In this new age of entrepreneurs, lots of people are shifting more towards self employment as compared to doing a job in a company or organization. I believe this is due to the desire for happiness and increasing opportunities for business available despite the demerits.
First, employees who are dissatisfied working under a company find opportunities to become self-employed. When people work for any corporation they get lesser salary vis-a-vis the efforts they put for the organization they work for. Many times they do not get recognition for their contributions, instead they face the wrath of their employer.
Second, the internet and growing technology currently, has given a plethora of opportunities in current times, encouraging many to choose the more exciting path of running a business. Research reveals that while the major businesses in the past were chiefly manufacturing, today many like Jeff Bejoz of Amazon and Mark Zuckerbug of Facebook run their business online.
Notwithstanding benefits, the self-employed have to be alert and serve their businesses, coordinating with employees, round the clock. They have to invest more time in their business unlike employees.
Furthermore, entrepreneurs might not get a regular amount of income, sometimes facing big losses. To exemplify, during the pandemic, several employees got their salary just by working from home, while so many self employed suffered losses and some even shut down business.
In conclusion, according to me, the growing trend of starting one’s own business in place of working in any organisation, is primarily owing to the unhappiness it brings, as well as the rising avenues online. Yet this demands much more time, efforts and financial risk from a business owner.
