Essay Topic: As people live longer and longer, the idea of cloning human beings in order to provide spare parts is becoming a reality. The idea horrifies most people, yet it is no longer mere science fiction. To what extent do you agree with such a procedure? Have you any reservations?

A: It cannot be denied that in recent times, with the advent in science and technology, cloning of humans has become possible. This concept is no longer a science fiction, though appalling to many. According to me,although human cloning is associated with benefits, however, it should not become a practice to flout the rules of nature since it has attached pitfalls.

Primarily, due to breakthroughs in medical science, cloning has opened doors for many new innovations in treatment giving patients a new lease of life. For example, people who loose their body parts accidentally or are born with some deficiency, can well lead a normal life taking the benefit of cloning, which can allow them to do all the regular activities. Additionally, as people age, their organs can fail which may need replacing. If humans were cloned, their organs could then be used to replace those of sick people. Therefore, cloning would help in increasing the mortality rate as well improving life of people.

Nonetheless, there are few religious communities who strictly disapprove cloning. Most people consider it unethical, immoral and unlawful, since it involves creating another human life and then eventually killing in order to use its organs, which is equivalent to murder. Moreover, it will also impact the ecological balance on earth since less people will die of old age, consequently it will exacerbate problems associated with a rise in population.

To conclude, I opine that though cloning brings many advantages to human beings in terms of providing alternate organs, however, this is unethical and against the laws of nature which would lead to serious ill impacts globally.
