Gender discrimination
Discrimination against the female gender in several way is prevalent across the world. This happens despite laws to ensure equality. We often hear and see female foeticide, unequal pay and abuse of woman.
Injustice against the girls and women is primarily due to a wrong deep rooted belief that they are inferior to men. Women are physically weaker than men but are emotionally much stronger.
There are numerous examples of women who excel or are at par with men, across a gamut of disciplines, be it medicine, engineering, aerospace, sports or politics. Kalpana Chawla, Indira Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Madam Curie and Indira Nooyi amongst others, are examples of some successful women.
To combat gender discrimination, from the very childhood, girls must be treated equally at home and school. Strict laws must be enacted to ensure equality between genders. With the combined efforts of people and governments, gender equality will be a reality that will be beneficial to the world.
