Many adults nowadays prefer spending their free time playing computer games.
Why do they do this?

The Essay:
Whiling away leisure time by indulging in computer games, is common amongst a majority of adults presently. According to me, the thrill and joy of computer games as well as growing number of nuclear families are the prime causes. Nevertheless, this is a negative progression.
To begin with, as more and more people are now shifting away from joint families to nuclear families owing to education or employment, they are forced to choose ways to spend their spare time joyfully and video games are an obvious choice due to the pleasure it gives. While chatting and playing with the large extended family provided the much needed happiness and relief in free time earlier, this is rare currently. Computer games are thus the easiest choice of entertainment in this technological age since almost everyone has some device.
Additionally, digital games give an adrenaline rush and excitement which often addictive. People prefer to play such games, as they are designed in a way to excite, motivate and challenge even the very brilliant and otherwise successful people, to keep coming back and score higher. For instance, Elon Musk and Larry Page, the founders of Tesla and Google respectively, also play video games.
Notwithstanding their popularity, video games often distance people from society and makes people loners. The personal connect with family and friends is negatively impacted that often results in depression, mental health issues and something wanting in life. Besides, computer games makes people physically inactive that causes obesity and related lifestyle disorders. Eyesight too gets impacted with constant viewing of the device screen that emits harmful radiation.
In conclusion, I believe that adults nowadays choose to play computer games in their off time considering the temporary happiness it gives and the fact of living in very small families. Yet this situation is certainly harmful to the gamers in more ways than one.
