The Essay Answer :

Living in a foreign country for study or earning is a trend now and it causes difficulties related to language barrier with native citizens leading to social isolation and uncomforting situations in routine life. I partially agree with this statement, since after spending some time in a foreign land, it becomes easy to adopt the native language and overcome such challenges.

The majority of international students have to struggle with linguistic differences. An insufficient command of the foreign language can impact their academic performance. For example, in a research study at an international student accommodation in Melbourne, the language proficiency was identified as the most problematic aspect of learning in the first year, affecting academics.

Moreover, it is difficult to be a part of a conversation in a language in which expatriates are less familiar with. As a result, foreign nationals start avoiding social participation to avoid embarrassment. For instance, in Singapore, most of the Indian families prefer to live in their own community and isolate themselves in a place known as “Little India”.

Nevertheless, these issues are temporary and people not only overcome them in a short span of time, but also become friends with locals. Soon International workers or students start performing well, making a place for themselves. Besides, they develop positive personality traits such as adaptability and independence.

To conclude, language difference in a foreign country is a major concern faced by migrants because of problems pertaining to practicality and social interactions. However, I believe this is not completely true, as foreign nationals get used to the new place and overcome this concern deftly, honing their interpersonal and communication skills.
