The Essay Topic: Some people think if students are afraid of the teacher it is better .Other say that having a friendly relation is better .What do you think?
The Essay: Whether teachers ought to be friendly or strict with their pupils has often been a moot point. Young children are like soft clay and can be moulded by their teachers and therefore being amiable or harsh has positive and negative effects on students.
Firstly, if students are afraid of teachers, they would do their work on time and be disciplined as well as punctual at school. Moreover, these qualities are essential for them to achieve success later in life. Since students are the future of our nation, it is vital for teachers not to be lenient with them to instil the right values. For instance, the results of students taught by punitive teachers in my school, was always better.
Secondly, easily approachable teachers often are not obeyed by students and makes them misbehave. Students are seen to be unruly and indisciplined in the presence of friendly teachers. When teachers are considered as God, as it is in India, students give their best vis-a-vis when teachers are overtly affable.
On the other hand, genial educators are popular amongst students who can easily get in touch with them for any doubts or genuine problems. This is useful for children as they are mostly immature and prone to commit errors. Moreover, the pressure of work and studies would be lifted and many extreme cases of suicides in children can be averted. Hence, it is imperative for teachers to be warm with learners.
To conclude, while it is often debated whether teachers ought to be strict or friendly with their students, according to me, sparing the rod would spoil a child and strictness is required towards them. Nevertheless, extreme harshness would be detrimental and so a balance is needed to bring out the best in students.
