The Essay: There is often a dichotomy amongst people on how children ought to spend their leisure hours. While few believe they must take on collective activities that are prearranged, yet others feel children rather be left alone and learn to remain busy in pursuits by themselves.
Firstly, organised group undertaking helps a child to develop social skills by giving an opportunity to mingle with other children of their own age. This way, their cohesive skills are developed. Besides they pick up valuable life skills that would be useful in life ahead. Secondly, this kind of set-up encourages discipline in small children . Due to the time limit of these scheduled programmes, they learn how to manage within a set time duration and complete tasks. For example, in the National Arts Academy students learn pottery as a groups activity which helps them to develop not only social interactions but also time management abilities.
On the contrary, some argue that when children are left alone they discover themselves and are more constructive . They learn of their innate capabilities and strengthen the same. Apart from this , many people have noticed a considerable surge in the level of concentration amongst little ones while performing a task independently.
To conclude, I opine that parents should encourage their offspring to take up activities which have the engagement of several other children. This is an effective tool for the multifaceted development of their personality apart from boosting their confidence. Nevertheless, they should also also be permitted to be engage on their own and thus know themselves, once in a while.
