The given line graph depicts the volume of visits to and from the UK from 1979 to 1999, while the bar graph illustrates the most favoured destination for UK residents in 1999. France was the most visited country by UK residents.
It can be seen that around 13 million UK residents went overseas in 1979, growing steadily untill 1985 to 20 million and went up by over two and a half times to approximately 52 million in 1999. On the other hand, visits to the UK by overseas residents (10 million) was slightly less than visits overseas by British people in 1979. Their visits saw a marginal rise to 13 million in 1986 but grew to about 28 million in 1999.
Around 11 million UK residents travelled to France, slightly over 9 million to Spain, about 4 million to USA, even lesser to Greece( 2.5 million) and the least to Turkey.
Overall, travel abroad by UK residents saw a four fold growth towards the end of the given period, when, it was almost double that of the visits to the UK by people of other countries.
