You live in a room in college which you share with another student. However, there are many problems with this arrangement and you find it very difficult to work. Write a letter to the accommodation officer at the college. In the letter,

• explain your problems and why it is difficult to work
• say what kind of accommodation you would prefer
The Letter:
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to apprise you of the difficulties I am presently encountering in my college hostel. I am a student of final year Mechanical Engineering in your college and have been allotted shared accommodation with a student of first year. This is a small room adjacent to the canteen.
Although my roommate is very well behaved, I have some serious issues, since many classmates and friends visit him in our room frequently. As my course requires extensive research and study even after regular classes, I require privacy and silence. Generally, the room is overcrowded with many young adults, who are busy chatting and fooling around. As a result of regular interruption, it becomes hard for me to concentrate on my academics. Despite many attempts to resolve this with my roommate by discussions, the situation is out of control.
Hence, I would request you to kindly change my room to single occupancy, so that I can devote undivided attention towards my academic pursuits. This will help me to secure good grades in my exams.
