Q: Consumers are faced with increasing numbers of advertisements from competing companies. To what extent do you think consumers are influence by advertisements? What measures can be taken to protect them?
It is true that numbers of adverts are increasing with the increase in competition in the markets which are influencing the consumers to a large extent. I believe authorities should implement proper rules and regulations in order protect consumers.
Firstly, there is a cut-throat competition among several companies. Due to which they have to market their products to reach out every customer. Consequently, consumers have to take load of large number of advertisements. Secondly, companies endorse various famous celebrities to promote their product which force the customers to buy the same because their favorite celebrities are using the same that sometimes have colossal impact on their budget.
Nevertheless, government should enact strict laws which restrict the producers to advertise wrong products. Companies should ensure quality of their products and mention the harmful effects of the product if taken by wrong age group. For instance, Governments should force companies to reduce advertisement of products which contain tobacco which is prominent cause of various types of cancers as a result consumption of such products will reduce.
To conclude, I opine that in order to capture greater market share companies are increasing the advertisements which has an adverse impact on customer’s health and wealth, henceforth there must be proper quality checks and control by various regulating authorities and companies.
